Barbara Hendricks

Barbara Hendricks is counted among the leading sopranos in classical music. She performed and recorded with all of the major orchestras and conductors as Barenboim, Bernstein, Sir Davis, von Karajan, Mehta, Sir Solti and many more. She is known as one of the most active recitalists of her generation and can be seen on music festivals worldwide. Hendricks was honored with several doctorates, is a "Goodwill Ambassador" for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, and was awarded the ranks of "Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres" and "Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur" by the French government. Next to her artistic achievements in the classical area and her humanitarian work, she always finds time for her secret passion, the music of her roots: In "Jazz-Recitals" together with a jazz-pianist or -trio, performing music by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and other composers of the Great American Songbook; and with her "Spiritual" program together with the Moses Hogan Singers.
